Siniora Stresses Arab Unity
Former Prime Minister and Sidon MP Fouad Siniora stressed the importance of reinforcing inter-Arab relations, especially between Lebanon and Syria.
He said Lebanon and Syria’s history, their geography, their national affiliation, their common interests and their principles were “key criteria in reinforcing their fraternity.”
“Due to the circumstances Lebanon has been through, the Lebanese have become closer to their Arab neighbors and their faith in their state has increased along with their faith in democracy and the Taif Accord … But our ability to stay united as Lebanese, Christians and Muslims, will be tested again in the future,” Siniora added.
The former premier had discussed local and regional affairs during a dinner held in Tripoli Saturday to honor him for his political achievements.
The dinner was organized by Future Movement MP Samir al-Jisr and was held at the Silver Shore restaurant in al-Mina in the northern coastal city of Tripoli. An array of political figures attended the gathering and discussed with Siniora pressing political issues on the local and regional scene.
